Frequently asked questions

"Oral Health is so important"!  Read the article below from the ADA and start your children's visits to the dentist at a young age.  Make the day "a day to look forward to" and not an unpleasant one.  Plan something exciting for after the visit.  They will remember!
From the American Dental Association
Don't let your child celebrate his or her first birthday without a trip to the dentist first.

February is National Children's Dental Health Month, sponsored by the American Dental Association, which encourages all parents to schedule children's first dental visit before they eat their first birthday cake.

"The sooner your child visits the dentist, the better chance we have to prevent problems," says Kimberly Harms of the ADA.  "The first visit is important because the dentist will examine the baby's mouth, teeth and gums.

The dentist will teach the parent how to effectively clean the child's teeth and gums.   Dentists can also help parents with the problem of thumb-sucking.

Parents should bring their child six months after the first tooth appears and no later than age 1, the ADA recommends.

The ADA also reminds parents not to tell their children scary stories about visiting the dentist.  Going to the dentist, the ADA says, should be a positive experience for children.  And early dental visits will help establish good oral-health habits, the ADA says.
